Maru’s Domain Expansion Can Shift the Fight’s Momentum in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

Chapter 18 of JJK Modulo begins by taking us right in the middle of Tsurugi and Maru’s battle. We all know about Rika’s return and her merger with Tsurugi, which is unusual for fans and for Maru, who has never seen anything like it. Maru realizes that Tsurugi’s ring has everything to do with Rika’s arrival and this merger. However, this realization doesn’t do any good to Maru when it comes to fighting this enemy. Tsurugi is an entirely new entity after being merged with Rika, and yes, he’s incredibly powerful. It’s not like Rika has completely taken over Tsurugi, as we see a constant exchange of dialogue between them. Also, the fact that Tsurugi directly talks to Maru proves that he’s still in control, or rather, both Rika and Tsurugi are in control. Regardless, Maru is being constantly pushed over to the edge by Tsurugi, and it almost seems like he’ll win the fight. In fact, at one point, Tsurugi tells Maru he will surely win. But then Maru decides to reveal something we haven’t seen in Modulo yet. That’s right, it’s a Domain Expansion. We have seen several amazing characters in JJK Modulo so far, but it’s Maru who gives us the first Domain Expansion in the series. Apparently, after Tsurugi’s direct challenge, Maru unleashes his power, and his surroundings start to change. Several plants grow near Maru, and he and Tsurugi are surrounded by what we can call a garden of sorts. Honestly, the narration doesn’t outright confirm that what we are seeing is Maru’s Domain Expansion, but that seems like the only explanation. Also, let’s not forget that Maru is a character who seeks a home that is beautiful and peaceful, and nothing’s more beautiful than a garden. It’s the definition of home to Maru, and it’s likely that his Domain Expansion projects his desire. That being said, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has yet to confirm if this is indeed Maru’s Domain Expansion and nothing else.
