Marvel Rivals Checkmate Achievement Explained
The Checkmate achievement in Marvel Rivals is tied to the Chronoverse Saga Objective tree. It tasks you with triggering one checkmate in the Grand Garden. By completing the task, you’ll receive five achievement points that’ll help advance your progress towards earning free Units. Since the Grand Garden is only available in the 18 v 18 mode, you’ll need to queue in Annihilation to complete it.
How to Complete Checkmate Achievement in Marvel Rivals
To complete the Checkmate achievement, you’ll need to go to the middle of the Grand Garden map. There, you’ll find giant chess pieces on towering platforms. You’ll need to move these chess pieces in a specific order by attacking them and then entering a hidden room. Before getting started, we highly recommend picking up a ranged Hero with a quick fire rate, such as Human Torch or Gambit. Once you’re in the match, move the chess pieces in this order:

If done correctly, the platforms will begin moving, revealing a secret path on the lower level. Jump all the way down and enter the hidden room with the secret chess piece to complete the achievement. Now, you’ll be able to claim five achievement points in the Career menu.
