Total Number of Pokemon in 2026
As of early 2026, there are exactly 1,025 unique Pokemon in the Pokedex. However, this number only tells part of the story. When you include all the different forms and variations, the total becomes much larger. There are 59 regional variants (like Alolan Raichu or Galarian Ponyta), 96 Mega Evolutions (some new ones like Mega Dragonite, Mega Zygarde were added in Legends ZA), and 33 Gigantamax forms. The Terastal phenomenon lets Pokemon change their type mid-battle, and you can now explore the whole map with your legendary Pokemon (Koraidon or Miraidon) as a mount.
